Seattle is located on Puget Sound, in the State of Washington. Washington is located in the far Northwest corner of the U.S. on the Pacific Ocean. Seattle, dubbed the "Emerald City" has a reputation for rain but we actually have less than New York, Atlanta & Boston with about 36 inches annualy. Seattle rain is usually passing showers or a gentle mist and contributes to the lush forests and numereous lakes in this area. Mountain Ranges, Puget Pound, deserts, the Olympic Rain Forest, the Pacific Ocean are all examples of this beautifully diverse area. |

This photo was taken while climbing a canyon on a mineral collecting trip. This was taken in the Cascade Mountain range east of Seattle. While I rarely seem to get a chance to do this anymore, I love this rugged mountain area. To view a few more photos of this area click on links.

Puget Sound has over 400 Islands in The San Juan Island chain and it is one of my favorite getaways in this area. This picture was taken on one of the ferries that cross over to the islands. WOW! What a rush! White water rafting on the Wenatchee river at the foot of the Cascade Mountains.
